Hello colleagues,
I want to share here what I learn from using the HubSpot feature that can help you to achieve your goals, if among those ones you need to track engagements from your prospects and customers, as I have it as my OKRs, but found HubSpot is limited here, and maybe you can recommend smth outside of HS here, like bitly or leadinfo.
We wanted to track clicks from the links we send to prospects/ customers (not via Marketing email – we are doing it and it works, but via LinkedIn and sequences, but see who clicked it, not just sessions, like it works with URL tracking links). It appeared that the contact should be “introduced” to the website before we can see the data, meaning – fill in the website contact form or exchange his email on smth from our end, like downloading an e-book.
We thought we could do it using Signals via Buyer Intent, but:
“Currently, subdomains (as the link where we want to see related to a subdomain https://demo.intiaro.com/intiaro-configurator/index.html?id=) are not supported in the Buyer Intent tool – only top-level domains. Product are planning to update the Buyer Intent tool to support subdomains in the future but there’s no set date yet.”
To sum up, the tools that HS has so far to help me achieve my OKRs, meaning I have more visibility on prospects and customers’ actions:
1. The contact should be “introduced” to the website to let us see if any clicks were made by this person, in case we plan to use links in emails.
2. Even 1-on-1 email and sequences do not let us see clicks per specific links if the contact before “was not introduced” to our website.
We know that interactions with clicks in your sequence emails are logged to the contact record, even if the contact is unknown to your website (captured through the email tracking feature).
While we also know that this information cannot be used for filters/reports/exports, you can use the HubSpot API to extract sales email click events from contact activity timelines, including which contacts clicked which links—although this requires using the Engagements API and/or the newer CRM Associations and Activities APIs.
This is definitely a more technical approach, but it could be worthwhile as it touched on most of the points raised.
3. Only Buyer Intent in this case, let us see website visits by a company (tracking regarding my OKRs) and marketing email as tools we use for newsletters and email campaigns.
4. The URL tracking link will not help me to achieve the goal I have, as it was initially invented to serve as a “vehicle” to show from which source the traffic came.
5. Upload and Share documents feature might help us track opening, how long, and where the prospect or customer spent time.
Please let me know what tools you use for “Know more about our prospects and clients’ activity. We need to know more about the information we send out and how it’s utilized. This will include all demo links, presentations, PR stories, blogs and social. The goal is to know more about “who and how often” across all sales activities” Any ideas here?
Thanks a mil in advance.
