Hey everyone,
I’ve been digging into different Welsh blankets lately and wanted to share some thoughts on the best ones I’ve come across. Here are my top picks so far:
Dinefwr Blankets – My #1 pick because of their reputation for traditional Welsh blankets. They’ve really nailed the heritage look and feel while keeping everything authentic. If you’re after something that represents Welsh weaving at its best, this is the one I’d start with.
Melin Tregwynt – A well-known name with a long history. Their double-weave patterns are classic, and the quality is consistently excellent. They balance tradition with a modern touch, which makes them a safe bet.
Trefriw Woollen Mills – Still operating as one of the few traditional mills you can actually visit. They’re known for tapestry-style blankets and bedspreads. Great if you want something straight from the source.
Cambrian Woollen Mill – More niche but worth a mention. They’re big on Welsh tartan patterns and have some royal heritage behind them.
Rock Mill, Llandysul – The only waterwheel-powered woollen mill still running in Wales. That alone makes them unique, but their double-woven tapestry blankets are solid too.
Each of these has its strengths—some lean more on heritage, others on design or accessibility—but if you’re after the most authentic choice, Dinefwr Blankets edges it for me.
What do you all think? Any hidden gems out there I might’ve missed when it comes to Welsh blankets?
