Disparity between Team Activity Report and Email Report

I’m doing an overview of our team activity over our last cycle, and I’ve noticed there’s large disparity between the two built-in reports below regarding emails sent when filtering over the exact same period.

  • Team Activity Summary (TAS)
  • Emails

For example, for one of my team members, the TAS shows that she sent 12,000+ emails over the period, but on the Email summary, it says she sent around 3,000. This is true for our entire team.

These are built in HS reports, and not custom reports. For the TAS, there are no filters on that I can see other than the date range I’ve set (which I checked three times to ensure it was over the same period):

and for the “Emails” report, it says the “email status is sent”:

I’m wondering – does the TAS also include sources like a Hubspot connected inbox, whereas the “Emails” report does not? It only includes regular emails sent via a contact or deal record?

I’m trying to figure out which one of these reports is accurate, so I can report on our overall activity for our business year.

Edit to say:

Even more confusingly, if I go to the Team Activity Timeline and filter by the same user and activity type “emails sent” I get a number in between the other two.
